For Spring Semester INTE 6710 at the University of Colorado Denver, I created an infographic to teach job seekers how a candidate tracking system works when applying for a job posting. I created the presentation to educate job applicants about how to write a resume and cover letter that overcomes the software obstacles encountered when applying to these robotic reader systems.

The goal: help job applicants receive an invitation to interview.

The enabling learning objectives built on each other to support the terminal learning objective:

Terminal Learning Objective: After studying this infographic, the learner was able to write online application materials that resulted in interview invitations.

Enabling Learning Objectives:
1. After studying this infographic, the learner was able to describe how an applicant tracking system ranks, delivers and dumps candidate applications before they are viewed, based on pre-defined keyword searches and search criteria.
2. After studying this infographic, the learner was able to describe how
resume/cover letter information is specifically placed on a page to enable an applicant tracking system to electronically “read” that information.
3. After studying this infographic, the learner was able to describe information/syntax that should not be included on a resume/cover letter.
4. After studying this infographic, the learner was able to identify layout and syntax mistakes made on resumes and cover letters.
